This article contains spoilers for Cobra Kai season 6 part 1.

Audiences have met several young characters on Cobra Kai who embody the spirit and fury of the “O.G.” Karate kids. The main dynamic between classic frenemies Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) has shaped the next generation. It’s easy to see how Daniel’s actual children Samantha (Mary Mouser) and Anthony (Griffin Santopietro) are a chip off the old moral block (for the most part) but Daniel also has several protégés he can choose from who have proven to have the heart of gold he had as a teen.

Parental figures can often be guilty of teaching their kids or students their worst habits, and Johnny Lawrence, especially in early seasons, wasn’t exactly the greatest role model. Granted Johnny has had a roller coaster of morality during the show’s run, as have many of his students. Enemies have become friends, friends have become enemies, teenagers have become sociopaths – that kind of archetypal journey has been seen time and time again, but the show often preaches balance. If Daniel has his specific pool of Karate kids to choose from, who is the next Johnny?

The next Johnny is (and perhaps always has been) Tory Nichols.

With Tory (Peyton List) rejoining Cobra Kai just in time to compete in the Sekai Taikai, it would appear that the writers are setting up one last epic showdown for the final episode
